WinTuner Telemetry
Staring with v1.2.0 WinTuner will collect anonymous telemetry data to help improve the product.
What data is collected?
The following data is collected:
- Version: The version of WinTuner that is running.
- Command: The command that is executed.
- Package ID: The arguments that are passed to the command.
Where is the data sent?
The data is sent to a custom Azure Function, where it forwards the data to Plausible. Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics platform that does not use cookies or collect personal data.
Why is this data collected?
This is an open-source project and I'm really curious how many people are using it and which commands are most popular. This will help me to prioritize features and improvements in the future.
The time spent on this project is limited, so I want to focus on the features that are most important to the users. By collecting this data, I can make informed decisions about what to work on next. And it helps me to justify the time spent on this project to my employer and spouse.
I'm also really curious that what packages are the most popular, and will provide those insights for everybody to see in the future.
Discussion
February 2025 I started a discussion on GitHub about telemetry in WinTuner. Use it to ask questions and remarks about telemetry in WinTuner.
